The Right To Write
Today is the 4th of July. A time to celebrate independence here in the U.S. As a black woman this is something that means a lot to me. Today I took a moment and thought about some of the things that I do that were not always possible.
The fact that I love to read and write is something that I honestly often take for granted. To think that there was a time that it was against the law for someone like myself to pick up a book or even write their own name. Now here I am, a social media maven and a bibliophile. There is nothing like getting lost in the pages of a book or being able to pen my own thoughts and paint images for others.
No longer will I ever take such a divine right for granted ever again.
