What Are You Waiting For?

Last week I was absolutely outraged to hear that black people were standing outside of a store impatiently waiting for $200 shoes that cost a factory of Asian laborers less than $10 to make. Not only were they trying to buy shoes, they were going as far as to inflict bodily harm to others in an attempt to steal them.

It makes me sick to my stomach that black people do such things. Do you see white kids standing outside of a store for hours on end just to buy a pair of shoes that will all too soon be out of style? Absolutely not. What do white kids stand outside and wait hours on end for? BOOKS!!!! When Twilight or Harry Potter books hit the shelves white children stood outside overnight just to be the first one at the door the next day.

The area in which I reside can't even keep a bookstore open, but has 4 shoe stores in one shopping center. And you wonder why a number of black children don't read. I wish black children would recognize and/or remember that there was a time that it was against the law for them to even know how to read or write. Where does this stigma come from that you're weird for reading a book. Children need to learn to get lost in pages and not in the street.
